June always feels special to me because it brings together three meaningful moments: Flag Day, Father’s Day, and the summer solstice.
To me, Flag Day on June 14 is a reminder to pause and honor our nation’s flag and what it represents. When I look at the flag, I think about freedom, unity, and the foundation of laws and rights that guide our country. I do not see it as just a symbol made of cloth; I see it as a reminder of the sacrifices, hopes, and responsibilities that come with being an American.
Father’s Day also touches my heart. I think it is a wonderful time to spend with fathers, to thank them, hug them, and let them know how much they are loved. For those whose fathers are no longer here, I believe the day can still be meaningful through quiet remembrance, gratitude, and the love we continue to carry in our hearts.
The summer solstice is another part of June that I enjoy because it marks the longest day of the year. To me, it feels like nature’s invitation to slow down, enjoy the sunshine, and make happy summer memories. It is a simple reminder that life gives us seasons for reflection as well as celebration.
Personally, I am thankful for the freedoms we have in this country, including the ability to speak, vote, and live under laws that are written for all to see. I also think about protections such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, which continues to help ensure that people with disabilities are recognized, included, and supported as society grows and changes. That is one of the many reasons I feel grateful for the opportunities we have here.
As June unfolds, I am reminded to appreciate the blessings of family, country, and season. My hope is that everyone finds time to stay safe, enjoy the summer, and celebrate the people and freedoms that matter most. Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, and grace and peace to all.
